BOOK OF THE MONTH INTERVIEW – DANIEL FRIEDMANN “THE BIBLICAL CLOCK”
Daniel Friedmann P.Eng., M.A.Sc., a Readers’ Favorite 2013 International Book Award Winner, studies the origin of the universe and life on earth from both the scientific and biblical perspectives. His work on reconciling the biblical account with scientific observation utilizing his biblical clock formula has been reported in conferences, various newspapers, magazines, television and radio talk shows.
He is Chairman of Carbon Engineering, a company dedicated to removing co2 from the air to solve climate change. He was the President and CEO of a global communications and information company until May 2016. He holds a master’s degree in engineering physics and has published more than 20 peer-reviewed scientific papers on space industry topics and cosmology. He is also a longtime student of religion and for the past 15 years has attended the Vancouver Kollel center for learning.
Daniel Friedmann’s first book, The Genesis One Code, demonstrates an alignment between key events and times as described in the creation narrative in the book of Genesis with those derived from scientific theory and observation. His second book, The Broken Gift: Harmonizing the Biblical and scientific accounts of human origins demonstrates an alignment between the key events and timeline recounting the appearance of humans in the book of Genesis with those derived from the fossil record and genetic studies. His third book, Roadmap To The End Of Days: Demystifying Biblical Eschatology To Explain The Past, The Secret To The Apocalypse And The End Of The World, was published February 2017. Friedmann was born in Chile and raised in Canada.
The latest book, The Biblical Clock, co-authored with Dania Sheldon, is a narrative describing Friedmann’s quest for answers that produced the prior three books. It is a stand-alone volume and in relating the story of discovery covers the essential materials in the earlier trilogy. Daniel Friedmann’s books are featured in National Post, Toronto Star, and The Wall Street Journal.
The Interview
How did you pick the points to compare?
How can one even compare religion and science on this issue? Historically, they come from very different points of view?
However, the views are not that different when examined closely. Science tries to understand what we have and how it came about; like looking at a house and seeing what’s its built of and how it might have been built. Religion claims to have the creator’s notes; like the architectural blueprint. Now, to the unaided eye, the blueprint does not look anything like the house, but, with some training, it does tell us about the house. The same is true in comparing science and biblical text.
Who is the audience for this book, primarily?
My main target audience is the 15- to 30-year-olds that come out of our secular system believing science has all the answers and the Bible has become somewhat irrelevant at explaining our origins. I wanted them to know that the Bible actually has answers to questions that remain unanswered by science. Since I started writing the book, I have seen interest from all ages.
Why would any scientist need to consider biblical sources to answer the creation of the universe and the human origins question? Aren’t we certain we evolved?
As science has studied our origins, we have understood much of what happened but at the same time some questions have remained unanswered and, in some cases, deepened in mystery. Today, some scientists are concerned that maybe we can’t get at all the answers. The Bible explains that science will be able to obtain all answers except just 3. Those three remain the biggest unanswered questions today. Yet the Bible has lots to say about them.
How does Genesis 1 and the evolution of human history reveal the events and timing for the End of Days?
In short, the bible contains the structure of the divine plan for history. We have experienced and documented 1000’s of years of history. When we place actual historical events on the divine structure, a pattern immediately emerges. Once we know the pattern, we can make sense of the prophetic writings and glimpse at what’s next.
Is the End of Days soon? Yes, it’s a process that will take time but should begin to be totally obvious in the next 20 to 30 years. Today, with the aid of this book, one can see the early events already.
Provide me with 3 Key Message Points of the book:
Science and religion-based knowledge is not at odds.
Combining both bodies of knowledge, we can get a better understanding.
We can estimate the timing of future events from the cosmic plan and actual history.
