She worked as a head chef for many years before she owned Atelier Crenn. In 2016, she was the only female chef in the United States to attain three Michelin stars.

Brandwein decided to play a larger role in the culinary industry by becoming an example for women chefs and showing them how they can achieve success. In 2017, Brandwein accepted the James Beard Foundation’s prestigious Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Program fellowship. She earned additional scholarships from the foundation, as well as the International Association of Culinary Professionals.
